HOW TO

The How to Guide to Printing with Us

  1. Get your hands on a 3D model of what you want to print (yes, seems pretty obvious). How you get your hands on it, is not so obvious. You have 3 choices:
  • Go to the many free websites that offer an endless selection of stuff to print (I posted links of the 2 most popular ones) and download it.
  • Model it yourself or get someone to model it for you. When you're done just make sure it has been exported it to .STL file format.
  1. Now that you have a model, go to the Filaments tab and choose a color and material. I try not to carry to much stock at this point so If you don't see the color you want, no worries, either tell me what color you want or go to the link given and look through the many choices under PLA and I will order it for you.
  1. You now have a choice of print quality: Draft, Normal and High. This is completely up to you. The only suggestion is that if you looking for a accurate part that will interact with another part then high is the way to go.
  1. All that's left is to email me with all of the above and I will get you a quote.
  1. If the model needs adjustments to make the print as successful as possible I will email you with the suggestion and it will be up to you to make the changes.
  1. Once you have accepted the quote, I print it and get it to you. Please mention if there will be shipping involved so that I can include it in the quote.

See below for some more details about the process and 3D printing.

      Materials
We offer a variety of  colors and materials for printing.
Please refer to the Filaments tab for more details

      File Types
.STL is the standard file type for 3D printing. These files cannot be modified so they will be printed as is, therefore when converting your design keep 3D printing in mind to facilitate the process

      Print Quality
Print layers are inherent to FFF (Fused filament fabrication) 3D printers.
The figure below shows how all FFF printers work.
                                  1. Is the hot nozzle where the plastic filament is melted and extruded
                                  2. Depicts the already deposited layers
                                  3. The Print bed where the parts are printed on.

When ordering service with us we offer 3 levels of print quality.

As print quality increases, the individual layers are less and less noticeable.
Print quality is pretty much user preference, but when dealing with fits and tolerances high print quality is recommended.
